How to Set Yourself Apart From Other Affiliates
How
to Set Yourself Apart From Other Affiliates American Chronicle, CA By Brice Mattson
Considered today as one of the best and easiest way to earn some money,
affiliate marketing is now attracting many people to represent themselves in
this type of business. But as competition is getting a bit bigger, you may need
some ways to distinguish yourself from the rest of the affiliate marketers. For
the major reason that many of your competitors including you are promoting the
exact same program, in the exact same zone or on the exact same websites
perhaps. Now here are some tips that you may consider in order for you to stay
in this business and have the chance to outwit and outplay other competitors of
yours.
The first thing is for you to have your own website. It is very essential for
you to have your own website in considering affiliate marketing as your
professional career. Secondly, potential customers primarily go to websites in
order for them to search and sometimes purchase items they were looking for. For
the same reason that it is much easier to remember than a certain URL that you
may be using and you can just point to your visitors the affiliate page in your
website.
Another thing to remember is to have your own ad. A lot of times affiliates
marketers have published the same ad two or three times done by advertisers. In
this case, you may email the owner of your affiliate program asking that you
make your own ads. This way, people may not become immune to ads, because
sometimes seeing the same ads over and over again, may just make your potential
customers to just skip it all together. Besides, your primarily purpose is to
attract or encourage people to click and read your ads and be curios enough to
click through your website. Step three, have some products of your own which are only available through
your website. Once you have your website going, it is important to have some
products or services that your customers can’t find with other affiliate’s site.
You want your customers to keep coming to your site and the best way to do that
is to have something on your site that they can’t find on others. Being an
affiliate marketer we must then choose a certain market segment where you can
have a potential leadership or at least a strong challenger role.
The fourth step is to ...

Creating Multiple Streams of Affiliate Marketing Income
Creating Multiple Streams of Affiliate Marketing Income American Chronicle, CA By Jane Foster
Have you ever heard or read the phrase “multiple streams of income” before? Do you know what this phrase means? For many businessmen, creating multiple streams of income online or offline is one way of securing themselves as well as their businesses in the future. They also believe that it can also save them from the so-called famine effect in the business industry. Once you are engaged in affiliate marketing business, it is advisable if you have multiple streams of affiliate marketing income so that if one of those income streams vanished, it will not upset you the way losing your sole stream would. If you depend on just one source of income and this single stream has been downsized or has lain off, you’ll surely find yourself bankrupted and hopeless. Try to ask the most successful online entrepreneurs, and you’ll discover that they have established multiple streams of online income.
There is a businessman that said and attested that the very first step you must take in creating multiple streams of income is to assess or evaluate your resources. Start by assessing yourself first. Jot down your answers to the following questions: What are the talents, abilities, strength and gears that you possess? Are you gifted with excellent and creative writing skills? Can you do well at sales? Are you good in communicating with people? Are you born with an artistic skill or unique ability that other people don’t have? Through this, you can determine the kind of business where can possibly excel.
Next, look around and write down you assets and physical resources such as computer, color printer, scanner, digital camera, cell phone, CD or DVD burner. Write these all down because it can be used as a resource. Consider also your friends and family. Find out what do they possess that you have access to. Remember that no man is an island. You can use the talents, abilities, knowledge and resources of everyone you know.
That’s basically the initial step if you want to create multiple income streams. But if you’re already a webmaster or a site owner, you definitely have an edge. Why don’t you join affiliate marketing business to help you gain extra income out of your own website?
Being involved in affiliate marketing is one of the most desirable ways to make multiple sources of income. It is because affiliate marketing programs come in various shapes and forms. There are a large number of ...

So Google Is No Brand X, but What Is 'Genericide'?
So Google Is No Brand X, but What Is 'Genericide'? Washington Post By Frank Ahrens
Last month, we noted that "google" had entered Merriam-Webster's Collegiate Dictionary. It was a landmark for the search engine -- going from nonentity to common usage in only eight years. One would think that a company that existed only in the minds of two college dudes a few years ago would be happy that a major publication such as The Washington Post prominently marked the occasion.
One would, that is, until one got a letter from Google's trademark lawyer.
Google, evidently, took offense to this passage in last month's article: "Google, the word, now takes its place alongside the handful of proper nouns that have moved beyond a particular product to become descriptors of an entire sector -- generic trademarks."
This characterization of Google, the letter warned, is "genericide" and should be avoided. Such letters are cranked out every day by companies keen on protecting their trademarks. Wham-O Inc. wants writers to eschew "Frisbee" for "plastic flying disc," for instance. I'll note that in my Palm. Excuse me -- my "personal digital assistant."
Google, however, goes the extra mile and provides a helpful list of appropriate and inappropriate uses of its name. To show how hip and down with the kids Google is, the company gets a little wacky with its examples. Here's one:
" Appropriate: He ego-surfs on the Google search engine to see if he's listed in the results.
Inappropriate: He googles himself."
But this one's our favorite:
" Appr opriate: I ran a Google search to check out that guy from the party.
Inappropriate: I googled that hottie."
It's a matter of debate whether it's appropriate or inappropriate for a market-leading company worth $113 billion to use the word "hottie" in official correspondence. What is beyond debate is the eye-popping fact that Google's trademark complaint arrived via a hand-addressed letter in the actual mail.
Wonder if they Google(TM)-d me to get the address.
-- Frank Ahrens

Do We Really Need A Website?
Do
We Really Need A Website? American
Chronicle, CA By Rami Doleh
To have a website or not to have a website; that is an occurring online
question.
When we set out to search for online business, we receive so many messages
telling us that not having a website is not a problem as the opportunity itself
will give you a duplicate page of your own that you can promote.
This is great news if you want to market only one business on the internet.
But look at all the people who are marketing successfully on the net. There
isn't a single person who is actually marketing one single product or service.
You would find them Partnering in this or that venture, selling three or four
e-books, being affiliates of numerous opportunities…etc.
Now let us say that you have opted to work with one single online business
affiliate program that offers you a web page that you can promote. How will you
promote it?
Let us look at the things you will not be able to do:
1-Exchange Links: Since you do not own the site, therefore, you cannot make
any changes on it; accordingly you will not be able to add links to your site.
If you cannot put links on your site then you cannot exchange links.
2-Forums: One of the Forums that I am involved in, and believe me it is one
of the best forums around, recently announced that you can add to your signature
either a product or a website that you yourself own and nothing duplicate or you
do not own.
3-Adding your link to directories: I guess I will be safe to say that at
least 90% of directories do not accept links with an extension. Meaning, your
duplicate site would be something like that http://www.website.com/affiliate .
The directories would only accept http://www.website.com. Although I must say
that some companies are overcoming this issue by adding your affiliate username
at the beginning rather than as an extension. It would look like this
http://username.website.com . In this case your chances to be accepted are
better, still not very good though. As directory owners usually do not accept
duplicate sites when they review it for approval.
What you will be able to do is the following:
1-Writing Articles: In your author resource box you will be able to put a
link to an affiliate page.
2-Traffic Exchange sites: These also accept affiliates 3-Paid advertising whether online or offline.
You will realize from the above that out of the five free options listed
above you will only be able to do two of them. While if you have your own
website you will be able to build a full marketing effort without having to pay
for any kind of advertising.
Remember this is with the limitation of having only one stream of income
coming in. If you decided to get involved in more than one business then you
will have to duplicate your work for each affiliate program when you are dealing
with paid advertising.
The advantages of having your own website are numerous, but we will list a
few here:
1-The flexibility of having all your online business opportunities in one
place.
2-The flexibility of changing your content for search engine optimization and
enhancing visitors' experience.
3-The flexibility of automating your link exchange activity.
4-The Flexibility of automating your content management so as to have always
new content on your website.
5-Of course we should not forget that all the things that we listed above
that you cannot do with an online business affiliate duplicate page, now you can
do them with your own home based business website.
6-Adding a newsletter subscription which will build you a list that no home
business/online marketer can do without.
Does this mean that each person who wants to venture into online business
must go into the trouble of building a website, designing it, and setting it up?
Not really, there are opportunities out there which have the option of building
your own website as part of the package. Yet you must make sure that you own the
domain name.

Hotcaptcha: Hot Babes Eliminate Bots
Hotcaptcha:
Hot Babes Eliminate Bots
Gizmodo.com, Hungary
You've probably seen website sign-up forms with a graphic of some
crazy-looking twisted alphanumeric characters that you're asked to type into a
form. That's to ensure that an actual human being has to do the signing up. It's
called text Captcha (Completely Automated Public Turing test to tell Computers
and Humans Apart).
A novel approach to this concept is to display a series of pictures and
instruct the website visitor to click on the kittens, or in the case of
Hotcaptcha, click on the three attractive young ladies (or men, your choice) in
the picture. Even though looks are subjective, machines can't tell the subtle
differences between a plain Jane and a hot babe, at least not yet. The code is
available to use on your own website. Looks like more fun than just typing in
text. Nice idea. – Charlie White

Internet Marketing Affiliate Program – What Do You Need To Know
Internet
Marketing Affiliate Program – What Do You Need To ... American Chronicle, CA By Brice Mattson
If you have selected a suitable affiliate program to join, and you are keen
to start earning some affiliate commissions, you will need to know about the key
factors to help you succeed.
So, what do you need to succeed with your internet marketing affiliate
program?
• Dedication. The first thing you will need to succeed with your internet
marketing affiliate program is commitment to work hard until you get the profits
you want. For you to earn some commission, you will need to invest money, time
and effort into the business.
• Patience. This is the hardest trait to have, yet it is the most important.
You can not earn commissions overnight with your affiliate program, and you must
be patient enough to keep on working consistently, even if you are not making
any sales.
• Get your own website and domain name. Having your own website creates the
perception that you are serious about your internet marketing affiliate program
business, and you have long term commitment to it. A professional website and
own domain name appear professional, and you will find it easy to make
sales.
• Products, services or business opportunities that are of high quality and
reputation. This is very important if you want to make some sales and earn some
commission. Make sure that you choose an affiliate program that has products
with high demand and are easy to sell.
• A website that is well presented and will prompt any visitor to take action
and buy! This is an obvious one, yet is sometimes neglected. For you to be
successful with your internet marketing affiliate program, your website must
clearly present what you are selling. You must make the presentation of your
website so that you can promote many sales, for example by placing complementary
products close together. Use all the techniques you can think of to help you
make as many sales as possible.
• A ‘useful’ website that makes visitors want to visit again. Although the
main goal of your site is to make sales; you will also want your site to offer a
few other things that will make visitors stay longer and come back again. You
could offer some free tips and ideas relating to the products you are selling.
The idea is to make any visitor want to ‘bookmark’ your site. Or if they make a
purchase the first time they visit; if they found some free helpful hints on
your website, they will come back again for another purchase, creating good
repeat business for you. • Have a committed strategy for ...

The potential of avatars for online advertising
The potential of avatars for online
advertising
bizcommunity.com
By: Simone
Puterman
Popular Mechanics, which bills itself as the
voice of science and technology in South Africa, has introduced more features on
its new website, including avatars - animated characters. According to publisher
Alan Duggan, avatars "have potential for online advertising because they offer a
triple whammy: animated figure, voice message and branded
background".
The avatars - first an attractive young
woman, followed by a stern Uncle Sam (a light-hearted reference to his original
call to arms) - welcome visitors to www.popularmechanics.co.za and remind them to buy the July
issue.
Duggan told Bizcommunity.com that he intends to change avatars
often, to prevent visitors become bored with the message: "In future, I may use
them to draw attention to online competitions or especially important articles
in the magazine.
"New technology allows us to play with a variety of
characters, tweaking their background, faces, hairstyles, voices, clothes - even
their age. We've used text-to-voice coding to create the first sample, so the
speech is not quite perfect, but we're quite capable of linking the characters
to real voices. The possibilities are endless, and we have every intention of
exploiting them."
Also added to the site is a compressed version of the
magazine's television commercial, which features a patient in intensive care -
presumably a Popular Mechanics reader - who allows his curiosity to get
the better of him.

I'm Getting Really Fed Up with Waiting...
It takes so long for the search engines that matter to re-index and recognise any changes in your sites. MSN is about the quickest and Google... well, if you're prepared to wait, you're looking at several months before your ranking gets changed or you see any major changes in how it views your site.
I've got inbound links from recognised and higher PR sites. I have Google sitemaps. My sites are accessbile, relevant and follow useability guidelines... Is this lag a ploy to make you spend more on PPC?
If, like me, you have relevant sites but not a lot of traffic, is there a way to speed this process up?
